I am a garden gnome. How do I know this? Well, I am shaped like one, pear-shaped with a round face and I work like one. I smile kinda creepy as a work. Sometimes I am hard to find hidden among the plants.
This is why I get so happy when I am called to work at the greenhouse.
Right now I have been filling pots with greens and leftovers from the garden (thistle, sumac, hydrangea). I laugh too much at jokes like: How can you tell that dogwood is dogwood? By it bark! HAHAHAHa.
I love when I get into the groove of making up these pots, that I can feel when they are done. I don’t look or second guess, it just feels done. On busy days at the greenhouse, I work with my fellow gnomes ( not all want to be called gnomes but too bad, my blog) and every half hour or so we bring a new pot to the sales table only to find a bare spot where we had just placed a pot. There are other gnomes taking my work and gnomifying their garden! How exciting.
It is a different art for me being in the busyness that is there, instead of in my studio. I love both. I learn so much in both environments and I get to embrace colour in so many different ways.
It keeps the juices flowing like gnomebodies business!!
